Young Love

Jacob thinks he is in love, this girl met all of his requirements. She is a girl and she is taller than her siblings. There is only one problem. This girl has a boyfriend. Did I mention that she is almost six times his age. So he did what he has been taught. He went to the girls father. He wanted to make sure that he knew his daughter had a boyfriend. Since Jacob is not old enough to have a girlfriend he believes that she should just wait for him. Luckily the dad was nice to him and even told him he could kick the boyfriend if her made his daughter cry. Watching him talk to this dad both made me smile and wonder what the future will hold with this boy.

My Quiet Place

Where is your happy place? Do you have a place in your home that is relaxing and helps your nerves calm down. Where do you go to have a quiet phone call? For me it is my porch. I want to buy a big couch set to go on the porch but have not found one in the price range I like. I love sitting on the porch and being able to see the goats and chickens. I love watching the kids ride bikes in the driveway. I love to see the sunset and have time with God. I love that when my children need a quiet place they go to the porch. This week Grace took Jacob onto the porch to do phonics with him. It worked perfectly because he was away from anyone that could be a distraction to him.

Rotten and Stinky Boys

This child, this sweet, smart, rotten child. He keeps me laughing. He runs until he is so tired that he cannot even drag himself up the stairs to bed. Recently he sat with me on the porch while I snuggled a baby goat. It is not normal for me to become attached to our baby goats because I know they will leave. But I had a bad day. So I sat on the porch snuggling this little baby goat. I told the goat that he needs to stop being cute. I told the goat that I do not keep boys because they become rotten and they begin to stink. That I will not keep a stinky boy goat on our little farm. I honestly forgot that my precious boy was on the porch with me. All of the sudden he got a sad look on his face. Almost a scared look. He looked up at me with those beautiful eyes that could control the world and said "mom, when I become a stinky boy will you get rid of me". I tried really hard not to laugh at him. I reminded him that I love him even when he is rotten and stinky.

Dear Jacob

Oh dear Jacob you make each day an adventure. This child loves his cowboy boots. I do make him take them off at night to keep the bed clean. Sometimes he decides he does not want to share so he finds a way around it by making a tent with pillows to watch  a movie on his tablet.

Big Sister Problems

I love this child. I think he is realizing his sisters love him too. Honest I think he likes it when his sisters use him as a doll. Today they took face painting to a new level.

Cheesecake Factory and A Spider Invasion

Boy do I have a story to tell you. Recently I went to the cheesecake factory for the first time. I was so excited. I love cheesecake. I have never eaten at the Cheesecake Factory but always wanted to. We decided to sit outside. The atmosphere was perfect, the waitress was sweet. Our food was amazing. There was only one problem. Right after our drinks arrived so did the spiders. Yes, you heard that right. Spiders joined our meal. First, we watched them above our heads. Not just a spider but lots of spiders. At first they stayed above our heads. I was not thrilled about it but really I am about to have the best cheesecake in the world. The spiders must have thought because I was not killing them I was inviting them to dinner. They slowly started coming down to our table. First, just one then another. At one point I jumped from the table. The hostess inside saw me jump and sent the manager out.

Our Farmers Market

I cannot believe another year at the farmers market is coming to an end. This has by far been the best year yet. This year I have been able to have a spot right next to my daughter. Watching her grow and learn has been amazing. Being there when she needs me has been even better. We have had several new vendors this year. I love learning from them. I love seeing all the produce they have and learning how they have grown it. I love our little farmers market. If you have not visited us please stop by and say hi. I am not there this week but I will be next week. The Geneseo Farmers Market is full of family and creativity.

Colorful Hair Don’t Care

So I have a question? What do you think when you see a teen with colorful hair? Do you see rebellion or someone having fun? For me I think it depends upon the whole attitude. If they are smiling and act respectful then I see it as someone having fun.

Recently my daughter heard someone say it was disrespectful and that these kids look like Bozo the clown. It honestly hurt her feelings because she had our permission and she paid for it.

When Your Baby Hurts

I would say I am a pretty strong Momma. We have been through a lot.  The one time I am not strong is when my children are in pain. Rather it be physical pain like in these pictures or emotional pain or when they are just struggling with there walk with Christ. This week Hope broke her foot again (It’s what is called an avulsion fracture. It’s where a piece of the tendon or ligament pulls a piece of the bone away... very painful!). She did this last year only this time it is very painful.

I love that her brothers and sisters are doing everything they can to make her laugh.   I love that even when I can not stop to comfort her every time the pain hits someone is there to help her out.

Happy Birthday!

Dear Precious Boy,    Today is your birthday. You are eight years old. I cannot believe it. When you joined our family you were 13 months old. You were chubby and cuddly. It took everything I had to not spend my entire days snuggling you.

Over the last 7 years I Jax watched you grow and because a amazing brother and friend. Your smile still melts my heart and gets you out of more trouble than it should.

I love you baby boy and hope that you feel loved and wanted today.

Fishing with Father

I love this time of year. The time of year where you work in the yard all day and when you know you are done you stop and take time to enjoy the weather. I love that my husband rarely goes fishing alone.

The kids love trying to catch the biggest fish. I don’t mind as long as the fish do not come back home with them. Although honestly frogs and worms always find a way into my home.

Not Allowed to Grow Up

I am so grateful for this child. I refuse to believe she is growing up so fast. This week she turned in scholarship applications. She knows her momma loves chocolate cake so she made me chocolate cake with homemade buttercream frosting.

Snow Day

We have had a little snow recently. I don’t generally like the snow. Okay I don’t like leaving the house in the snow. But I love when the kids can build snow igloos and go sledding. I love when I bring them in with rosy cheeks and then snuggle them until they are warm. I love the view from our barn.  Snow as far as you can see in the summer and corn as far as you can see in the summer. Hope loves the snow. She stacks it up and makes igloos for the animals to sleep in.

Go Patriots

Volleyball is serious business. Cheering on your sisters is serious business. They won’t cheer loudly at the games but they do anything to help them prepare for a game.

GO PATRIOTS!!!

For years we have wanted a bigger vehicle. Something that we could use when our friends want to come home with us.  I can’t wait to fill it with lots of screaming girls.

Puppy Love

What happened to my sweet baby boy who used the dog as a pillow. Now he is just a photo prop.
